PLDT Upgrades my Internet

pldt_logoI was in an internet blackout for the past 18 hours or so as PLDT were adjusting my account. They had to downgrade my “MyDSL Personal” plan to the newer “Xcite 1995” and migrate my node to the new “IP Node”.

I called the hotline number, 172, several times in order to find out the progress of the job order on fixing my internet connection. I was told that I had to wait an additional a day in order to see results.

As an impatient individual, I grabbed my bag and umbrella and headed out to the Mabolo office of PLDT (Cebu). I walked it all the way as I didn’t bother riding a jeep as it would still have to pass Ayala. I’m located next to Metro Sports, Lahug.

Upon arriving at the PLDT Customer Service office I was told that the technician who I spoke to the other time was having his lunch break. I patiently waited for him to come back after an hour. Luckily, he remembered me and quickly got a hold of the team leader of the Mabolo team. I was then driven in the PLDT Repair Van all the way back home where the internet connection got set up. On the other hand, we, the technician and myself, had a hard time setting up the settings on my ASUS RX3041 router as we to do a hard reset of the router and configure it again. After several attempts everything was up and running.

I proceeded to Speedtest.net and to my surprise my internet became twice as fast as before with a download rate of roughly 2.75mb/s and an upload rate of 0.6mb/s. Not bad at all from the previous 1.6mb/s download rate.

Unfortunately, I am still getting a few hiccups from time to time. I guess they’re still testing and fixing my connection. I’ll give them a day. I am contented with the speed, however, if I continue to get these interruptions I rather be back on the old “Legacy Node”.
