CD-R King: Hopeless Customer Service

Most of us here in the Philippines definitely have heard of CD-R King, a CD/DVD and computer hardware store located in most shopping centres and malls throughout the nation. The store has become quite popular to the average consumer when it comes to the purchase of blank CD/DVDs. What I don’t understand is how a typical person can endure the long waiting lines and crowded small stores in order to get what they want. Imagine waiting in line for roughly 30 minutes! Furthermore, the priority system is mismanaged and disorganized. The management should have designed two priority systems, one catered to the sale of blank media, these are the CD/DVDs, the other to the sale of hardware and accessories.

Here’s what I experienced with one of the CD-R King stores in Cebu, I’m talking about the SM Cebu City branch. A few weeks ago I walked in the store and grabbed a priority number. I headed towards the CD/DVD section. At that time we were all packed and squashed inside the store. I had a hard time moving around and I can clearly remember repeating the usual phrase,”Excuse Me” a number of times. I reached the “desk” and I noticed that there were only a few more numbers before mine. So I patiently waited for ten minutes. Once my number was called I gladly gave my priority number to the sales girl, only to find out that my number was from the second batch. Wait, there are two batches? They told me I had to wait for the first batch to end. In other words I had to wait for an additional one hundred priority numbers before mine would be called. Why in the world would you make a customer wait so long?

As a dissatisfied customer I complained to these group of “ya-ya” (typical Filipino term for sloppy) sales girls. Of course when I usually converse, I use my mother tongue, English (I can barely speak Cebuano dialect). Can you imagine that one of the sales girls questioned me asking why I was speaking English (What they didn’t know was that I can grasp a little bit of Cebuano, so I understood what she said). With that, I threw my priority number on the “desk” and left the store.

To summarize things up:

  • CD-R King has poor management skills
  • They employee uneducated store personnel – Disrespectful, rude and impolite
  • Long lines at all CD-R King Stores, thus, making the customer wait (Business 101 – Never let the customer wait)

Here’s an honest comment for CD-R King as I know someone from the company will be visiting this blog post as I just sent them a customer complaint:

hand_downYou just lost a customer (I was planning to spend P200). Moreover, you created a horrible image of your company. Oh, another thing. Fix your FUCKING priority system. Don’t expect to make your customers wait long! Go back and learn the basics of business ethics.

    hey scumbag……….get a set a balls………..and just go to the mall……………..some of cant get to the stores because of physical reason…………and the REAL site. lets us shop first then go and get what we need…………HEY……….do you think those other shops are smart enough to have a site like CDRKings? Maybe they would get more customers……..then again they’d probably end up with you. you wouldn’t be satisfired with even two dicks up your ass……….yould still want more and a candy mint afterwards.

    Ako, I support CD-R King coz they offer products with the same function that I usually find in malls with higher prices.
    I’m lucky enough not to have that same problem with their CS, but I did encounter long times of waiting. So I look for a good branch, here in Edsa Central, walang katao-tao. Bagong bukas lang. So dun na ako lagi.
    So wag tayo lagi init ng ulo. Yung mga nagrereklamo versus CD-R King, ok lang yun, problema ng CD-R King yun. They should react to that, and try to improve the area being complained. Tayo namang walang problema, we learned from those posts, wag natin silang awayin.

    in fairness to the customer, it was right to say na magulo talaga ang system ng cdr king. i have my fair share of experience, isipin mo 1 oras ka nag antay sa pila tapos pag ikaw na out of stock pala ung bibilhin mo… in fairness to cdr king, kudos ako sa kanila because sila lang ang maraming tao na bumibili sa mga mall…i guess the problem is that all cdr king branches are company owned, di lang sila maka cope sa paglago ng business nila…plus the fact na maliliit ang store spaces compared sa volume ng taong pumapasok…they should merge their nearby branches and put 1 big outlet…tutal isa lang naman ang may ari…kung franchise, un ang mahirap…kaya lang ang business model nila is micro lang kaya madami…anyway, un lang ang mali nung customer na ito, hinack ang website…imbis na sa kanya ang sympathy, nawala tuloy…sayang lang ang paglabas nya ng sama ng loob

    Actually masugid ako na mamimili ng CDR king.. they implement na this so called.. 2 klase ng pila.. 1 is strictly 1 item and the other one is 2 items above… telling you honestly… sobrang bagal ng pila.. to the point na mababagot ka… i mean they cater agad the items you need, like nakapila ka pa lang they will get the item and put it on the top of the glass shelves.. then sobrang makaluma ng resibo nila.. HANDWRITTING tapos lalagay sa inventory nila.. i mean pagka sulat sa resibo, then susulat ulit sa inventory nila, then saka lang iaabot dun sa cashier nila na may POS.. i mean uso na yung swipe swipe na lang para mabilis dba… kasi parang halos same lang yung waiting time nung 1 item at nung 2 items above.. kulang sa man power at machinery… Yes mura ang items nila.. actually before going to cdr king nag brobrowse na ako sa website nila to get the item code para di na ako magtatagal na mamili dun kung ano gusto ko.. kaso the waiting time is so very very long, natry ko na sa SM sta mesa, SM Annex north edsa, SM FAirview, Trinoma, MOA, Ali mall, grabeh ang pila…. ang wala gaanong pila sa mga walter mart.. hahaha

    The problem is most Philippine companies know nothing about customer service. In any other country if you go to McDonald you are in and out in 30 seconds. Here its 5 minutes. Here in the Philippines the customer is always wrong, In most other countries the customer is always right. One angry person will tell 20 people they are angry. A happy customer will tell one to five people. The Philippines need to learn how to manage business if they are going to move ahead into the 21st century. If you have to wait more then 10 minutes then the wait is unexceptable. The bussiness neeeds to hire more people. The worst part of it is when you are waiting and half the employees are either texting on there cell phones or the manager is sitting on there but not helping.

    Some other people feel the same way like what you experience in CDR KING like me. minsan depende rin sa branch meron talagang mga saleslady na kulang sa respeto at akala mo kung sino sa customers ang babagal pa kumilos. In my opinion the cdrking mgmt. should do about it baka next time sila ang mag habol sa customers nila. But its not right to hack there site.

    I understand the guy who hacked the site, i guess, its more of a warning and how to get the attention of the company that there is really something wrong, and as we all can see, every one is reacting with what he posted. Clearly, he is getting his message across.

    I guess, they should really know how to offer customer satisfaction, and his point about the sales laddies, they really need to be taught well about business ethics, and the company should take this scenario as a warning. Because people who know how to hack well can get into your pcs, dont play around with them. They mean business.
    I (and my best friend) also had some encounters with their sales ladies in the past- (you should see how they act when they dont feel like serving you) and i think its high time the company check on this instead- and not all products of cdr king are good, please- i used to buy a lot and they just get distroyed easily, it isnt even how i handle the product. Everyt IT person should know that.

    The best ones that they carry are under branded names like kingston. But when it comes to the CDr king “product” its self, i think its just questionable in terms of quality. Its just like saying, we have no choice but to support them because they are cheaper than other shops, so we have to put up with watever they show us, even if it is wrong. Think about it.

    You should try shopping at SM Supermarket on the eve of or on Christmas Day. We waited for 3 hours in line. That should never ever happen in any store. The stores do it to us because they know they can and they also know there is nothing we can do about it. But there is one thing we can do – do not patronize their stores. Filipino stores do not know the concept of complete customer satisfaction.

    guys….this is just his opinion……you dont understand what is the real meaning of his/her article…..this is like open forum….i felt too that cd-rking wastes a lot of time at lines….i bought one day at CD-R King Branch SM Southmall(Las Pinas City) a web cam…..it took me an hour and a half to wait and when its testing time, i waited another 15 – 20 minutes, it worked fine on their computer and when i got home it was defective…..edi kailangan isauli dba?…..i cam back and waited at the technician which was already accomodating 4 more customers before me…..so i waited for almost an hour……the 2nd time is a bluetoothsender/reciever…..i got a number…..the priority number was 39 and my number 74……can you imagine? its worth the wait coz its cheap but if were talking about time….why not try the other stores…….

    I hope thet get a POS and/or double the sales ladies and technician guys next time

    whatever….its a simple wast of energy complaining bout their customer service. what did you expect from a store that sell el cheapo products with virtually no competition in sight. don’t expect 5 star customer service. just get in, wait for your turn, buy ur stuff, and get out. in the end, we get what we want. if you can’t stand the line, look elsewhere or a cdrking in the middle of nowhere. am sure may cdrking sa bawat sulok ng bansa na natin. its not like the products we buy from them are that critical and a matter of life and death. chill!

    I have nothing against Cdr-King. I used to work for them. But their employee system is totally F*cked up, no wonder customer service is very poor. Walang makakatagal sa systema nila! Baba na sahod dami pa pinapagawa. Well Maganda lang is tipid talaga ang mga tinda nila. Sana tigilan na nila ang pagtitipid at kumuha ng Magaling na Wed Dev or Programmer na makakatagal sa kanila.

    Kung may taong nauna sa iyo, magintay ka, pumila ka. Mura sa cdrking kaya maraming tao so expect na mahaba ang pila. Disiplina lang po yan.

    Kinausap mo sila ng english? Eh malimali naman ang grammar mo dito. Baka kaya hindi ka nila naintindihan. ahaha

    FYI nasa website ng cdrk kung bakit sila mura. ksama na po dun ung low cost resibo system. Kung hanap mo customer service sa ibang tindahan walang tao maluwag maasikaso ka talaga.

    I experienced it also, sa akin naman dito sa Laguna area, kumuha ako ng priority number, i think 60+ ako, masikip kac nga malilit lang space na kinukuha nila sa mall. Ang hanap ko naman that time is usb extension with signal booster, i waited like 20 to 30mins kac hindi nila ini entertain kahit magtanong ka lang kung meron ba available or wala. Nung turn ko na, guess what?walang stocks na available! nakakatawa no?kac sa tagal mong hinintay ang sagot lang nila wala,hehehehe, pwede naman sana sagutin nalang nila ang query ko kung may stocks or wala, para if wala then hindi na pipila or kung meron then its worth waiting dba. pangit talaga system ng Cdr-king, sometimes masungit pa mga sales yaya.
