I haven’t posted in while again. I got caught up with my studies and school work (or perhaps I’m just being lazy). Anyway, I spent the whole Sunday morning at Balamban, Cebu. It’s a mountainous region, north of Cebu. It’s also term as the “Little Baguio” as the weather is somewhat similar to Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines. Temperatures in Balamban range from early to mid 20s during the day to the late teens at night.
It took roughly an hour for us to travel from the city to Balamban. Twenty minutes into the trip, one can only see the several peaks and mountain sides of Cebu. Just mountains! After finally arriving, we ventured out to one of Balamban’s new hidden resorts, “GL Highland Resort”. According to our driver, the resort is owned by a Colonel in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. It’s a 12 hectare resort with cottages, a dining area, spring water, a nature trail and a breath-taking view of Cebu’s mountains!
Later on during the day we drove to the other well-known resort, “The Little Island in the Sky”. I wasn’t too impressed by the facilities the resort had as it didn’t look like it was maintained or managed at all. The view is similar to the other resort, however, the accommodation is pathetic – the cottages seem to be a bit unstable and rocky.
Below are shots from my Balamban experience today. Check it out!

the very first year i was here in cebu, out teacher took us to this place for our history class trip!
that was 2004 and it was raining that day. we stayed in balamban from 3pm to 7pm basically just fooling around! if you’re wondering though why of all this place, my teacher happens to have been born here and her parents reside on this place so yeah. i personally think it was a personal trip for her rather than a class trip for us!
It’s a good place to releax and enjoy the scenery. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll be able to survive there long if I had to live there
